TELL ME I’M NOT ON FIRE (2024)
Poetry, 79 pages, 5” x 9”, Paperback
ABOUT THE BOOK
Tell Me I’m Not on Fire emergency ejects the reader into a burning landscape populated by men in ski masks, televised beauty queens, ordained Elvis impersonators, and lonely arsonists.
These poems set fire to the facade of “Everything’s fine!” and examine what’s hidden underneath. Dark humor, raw intimacy, and a host of pop culture references ultimately reveal the unending apocalypse of being human.
We’re all on fire, but that’s alright. Buckle up and let these poems rob a bank, throw you into an unmarked van, and high-speed chase a hurricane. Once you get to know them, you’ll find you have a lot more in common than you thought.

"An outstanding book. Wildly inventive and thoroughly entertaining. Nicolette writes with an agency and precision that's hard to come by. Her strikingly cinematic poems seared deep and remained in motion long after I put the book down."
- Buddy Wakefield, author of A Choir of Honest Killers
“In this stunning triumph of a collection, Nicolette Daskalakis goes big. Her humor, her metaphors, her irreverence are all magnified in a way that doesn't let the reader look away. As good art should, her poems will leave you feeling simultaneously disturbed and understood. I will return to this collection again and again.”
–Miriam Kramer, author of Built by Storms
